Central Alberta

The Central Alberta Council has had a very successful year. Our initial two council meetings this year have focused on planning the 2012 Professional Development calendar. In meeting our council mission: supporting and leading teachers of students with diverse learning needs, we have begun the development of a wiki space, offered a fabulous workshop on Ipad Apps for diverse learning and are now preparing for our Annual bookstudy/AGM. We would like to thank Shane Hewitt and Ryan Leyton for presenting at the Ipad workshop. Handouts to this session are available through this link. (Shane will provide you with a like to the handouts)

On May 22, our Council is hosting a book study in conjunction with our AGM. The book this year is entitled Mindset by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck http://mindsetonline.com/whatisit/about/index.html. Registration will include supper and a copy of the book. To register (click here).

Reminder- our meetings are open to all Special Ed. Council Members or potential members.

Becoming involved provides fantastic networking opportunities with quality teachers from Central Alberta school jurisdictions and excellent Professional Development. We learn so much from each other as we share resources, websites, technology tips, classroom strategies, exciting initiatives and more! Our next meeting is May 15 at 5:00 at Ecole Camille J. Lerouge School in Red Deer, 5530-42A Ave. Please note that we are still seeking representation from members from Wild Rose, Clearview and Wolf Creek school divisions.
