A list server facilitates the distribution of information to a large group of e-mail users on the Internet.

The "special education" list is intended to help keep people who are involved teaching students with special needs informed and updated. Participants are encouraged to use this service to inform others of relevant programs, policies and/or practices in their school and/or communities. Participants are also encouraged to ask questions of the other members and post notices of workshops and other professional development opportunities.

Most people involved are very committed to meeting the educational needs of students with special needs. We are hoping that subscribers will take the time to keep each other informed of their efforts towards special education in public schools. The Alberta Teachers' Association Special Education Council will, in turn, use this mode to send out announcements and information on conferences, workshops or new resources.
